Valeriy Kuznyetsov, PhD Director of PGD Program
Dr. Valeriy Kuznyetsov earned his Ph.D. in Biology at the St. Petersburg Research Institute for Animal Genetics and Breeding in Russia. Then he worked as Research Vice-Director in the Institute of Animal Breeding and Genetics (Ukraine) where he conducted research in the field of cloning of animal embryos by nuclear transfer, in vitro maturation, in vitro fertilization, and parthenogenetic activation of animal oocytes.
Before joining the CReATe team (from 20th September, 2010) he worked as an embryologist at ReproMed Toronto where he also conducted research in the field Before joining ReproMed, Valeriy spent 7 years as the Senior Embryologist Researcher at the Reproductive Genetics Institute in Chicago, Illinois. While at Reproductive Genetics he performed all IVF aspects of human assisted reproductive technology including: biopsy and fixation of polar bodies, blastomeres and trophectoderm cells for PGD/PGS cases, and various research projects. In 2007-2008 Valeriy also worked as the Research Associate II for Stem Cell Facility at Children’s Memorial Research Center in Chicago, Illinois where he conducted production and made characterization of human embryonic stem cells.
He is currently the Director of PGD Program at CReATe and his research is focused on the development of the methods of preimplantation genetic diagnosis/screening and their potential contribution to improvement of ART outcome, vitrification of oocytes, embryos and spermatozoa. He has an extensive background in clinical and experimental human ART, animal embryology and genetics, and stem cells research. He has published over 30 scientific papers and review articles in scientific journals, authored 3 book chapters, and has presented more than 30 abstracts at both national and international scientific meetings.
